WHO NEEDS THIS TRAINING?

All personnel entering a confined space and the standby person must be competent to enter that space. It is recommended that some or all of the team members should also be trained in incident response including First Aid and CPR.

Course Description:

This unit covers the entering and working in confined spaces in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes planning and preparing for entry of confined spaces, entry and working in confined spaces, exiting confined spaces and cleaning up.

    • Enter and work in the confined space
    • Exit confined space
    • Clean up

    This course does not include training in the use of breathing apparatus. Logisafe recommends that clients receive this training directly from the supplier or manufacturer of the breathing apparatus they intend to use.

    Formal training (including practical training):

    A one day (8-10 hour) course which includes a lecture style power point presentation and group exercises including risk assessments, tripod erection, harness use and atmospheric monitoring which place an emphasis on group discussion and the interaction of course trainees.

    Topic covered:

    • The planning and preparation to safely and effectively work in a confined space
    • The identification and control, of work health and safety issues related to confined space activities
    • Understanding relevant legislative obligations and duty of care responsibilities belonging to all persons involved in confined space entry & work
    • The selection and inspection of the required equipment prior to performing work
    • The performance of confined space tasks in accordance with relevant standards, legislative requirements and industry codes of practice
    • Select, deploy and use appropriate rescue equipment

    Training may be conducted at your premises or a Logisafe venue, however Logisafe recommends that training is conducted at the workplace to ensure relevance to the participants.

Assessment – Cumulative on the day:

  • Theory examination consisting of 61 questions
  • Performance assessment consisting of 6 practical exercises

Award:

Successful trainees will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by within seven (7) days of assessment.

Wallet-sized photo ID cards are also available.
